“I Don’t Know”

What would I say if someone asked today, “Why did God let this shooting in Vegas happen?” My answer: “I don’t know. I don’t know.” No one can answer with 100% certainty why this happened. As I’ve watched the news and listened to the stories of those who were there, my heart breaks. It’s so senseless, but isn’t that one of the key descriptives of evil? Evil is senseless. It’s understandable how some will use this tragedy as a time to accuse ... Read more

What a Walk So Far…

We've been in our James series on Sunday mornings for the past three weeks, and what a series it has been so far. And the thing that I've been reminded of the most as I've been studying and preaching through James so far is how straightforward James is. He definitely doesn't pull any punches. I guess if you're the brother of the Son of God, you can get a little bit blunt. As we continue to go through this amazing letter, I ... Read more

SUNDAY WAS AMAZING!!!

Yesterday's picnic at Purpose Claremont was an absolute BLAST!!! This was our first "official" campus community hangout time and it was phenomenal. To see somewhere between 170-180 people stay to be part of it showed me once again why I love this community: because it's a community. We just hung out and spent time together. The kids played. The pony rides and the petting "zoo" were loved by our Purpose Kids. The egg hunt sent all of our Purpose Kids on a ... Read more

“What Do You Say About Yourself?”

I was reading from John 1:19-28 yesterday morning for my time with Jesus. As I was reading, the question that those sent by Pharisees asked of John jumped off of the page at me. "What do you say about yourself?" Six words. That's it. The thing is that that question can be overlooked and ignored and yet it brings us back to the reality of who we are if we answer it honestly. Like I said it jumped off the page at me and ... Read more

Purpose Kids workers signing up and still needed

Thank you, Purpose Church Claremont. Since our launch in January, we put before you the need for adults to pour into Purpose Kids at the Claremont campus, desiring to impact this younger generation and disciple them into passionate and committed followers of Jesus. Well, you have answered the call. In the last couple of weeks we have seen 6 people come forward to get plugged in with working with our little ones. So thank you. But, we still have room for more. ... Read more

Forgotten God

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this new series that we are starting on Sunday called, "Forgotten God." The topic? The Holy Spirit. Depending on if you went to church growing up, and then if you did what type of church you went to will impact whether or not you have ever heard a message, let alone a series, on the Holy Spirit. But why is that? I'm kind of convinced it's because the Holy Spirit makes us ... Read more

Living Life WITH God

ACTS 14:27 — “And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.” (ESV) I read this verse yesterday morning from our community Bible reading program and had to stop. There was one word that stood out to me more than the rest, a word that I believe the Holy Spirit was trying to get me to notice above every other word ... Read more

Found People Find People

First of all, I just needed to let you know that I missed you all this past Sunday morning so much. It was an incredible weekend away speaking up at Thousand Pines, and I saw God do some incredible things in the lives of the 350 or so people. I thought about you all so much on Sunday morning. I missed you so much. God has given me a ministry of speaking at other camps and churches at times. Thank you ... Read more
