Serve Sunday

For those who were in the worship gathering this past Sunday morning, you heard the announcement that I made for Serve Sunday on December 23. If you weren’t able to be there, here’s the main point that you missed:

We will not be meeting in the morning on December 23rd so that we can go into our neighborhoods and communities to serve others. Ideas about what you can do on that morning will be coming as we get closer to the day, but also feel free to get as creative as you want to in order to impact others with Jesus.

Why are we doing this? Simply put: to be like Jesus. Look at what Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45, ESV). So during this Christmas season, when the heartbeat behind the coming of Jesus was God’s love for us, a love so great that he gave his Son, we are going to go out and do likewise. We are simply going to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a time when Jesus put on hands and feet―when Jesus became human.

I am so excited about this and am actually very excited for doing these in the future as well. I know that this is a new thing for almost all of us for a Sunday morning. I know that it’s a change, and for many of you change is hard. But I want to personally thank you for being willing enough to do this. I’m convinced that this will only increase our worship of Jesus, our passion for Jesus, our commitment to his call, and our impact in our mission fields.

So let’s intentionally pray about what Jesus would have each of us do. Let’s intentionally move forward with him in impacting others. And let’s do this all because of the fact that we love Jesus and Jesus loves the world.

Thank you for being absolutely incredible. Our church community is the best thing that I have ever been a part of and I’m still in awe that I get to be your pastor. Thank you.

I truly do love you more than you know,
